- Add 1.6l water per bag and mix for approx.
- Pour mix into prepared boxed area.
- Screed mixture until evenly spread.
- Trowel area and wait for 1.5 – 2 hours.
- Immerse a “dense foam” roller in water and roll across slab until surface slurry is removed.
- After 24 hours, mix a 4:1 water to hydrochloric acid solution and pour it evenly on the surface. Rinse with water afterwards.
- Wait 7 days and when the concrete is dry, seal the surface for protection.
Add cement colours (pigments) at the mixing stage if you desire a coloured background to the pebbles.
Monitoring surface hardness
Before you start to expose the pebbles, test the surface by gently pressing your finger against it. It is ready at a semi-set stage and should feel firm, but still a bit soft.
The right roller
Use a dense foam roller with a thickness of 10mm to expose the pebbles. Only this type of roller absorbs the cement slurry sufficiently and achieves a great result.
Preparing for acid wash
Pour the acid into the water (not vice versa) to avoid splashing. Wear protective gloves and glasses when mixing the hydrochloric acid solution.
Easy Mix Beachcrete will keep for up to six months if kept in a dry environment, off the ground and providing the bags remain sealed. High temperature and high humidity conditions may reduce the storage life of the product.
Easy Mix Beachcrete contains cement powders which can be harmful to the skin. During use, avoid inhalation of dust and contact with the skin and eyes. Wear suitable clothing, gloves, eye protection and respiratory protective equipment.
If contact with the skin occurs, thoroughly clean the area with plenty of fresh water and soap. In case of contact with the eyes rinse with plenty of fresh water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Do not induce vomiting.
